Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, History, CEO, and KTRH Contacts

The Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital started in 1916 for the treatment of injured colonial soldiers is now the largest medical facility in lower Nyanza. The iconic KTRH is indeed the largest of its kind in Kisii and Nyamira counties.

Initially a district hospital, KTRH is now a referral health centre with specialized treatment from highly qualified medical practitioners.

Where is the KTRH located?

The Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital location is within the Central Business District along Hospital Road, next to the Kenya Medical Training College. Nearby are Falcon Roundabout and Oasis Specialist Hospital.

Behind the health centre is a recently launched postmodern morgue.

KTRH was 2007 upgraded to a level V hospital and in 2014 upgraded to a level VI hospital under the regime of ex-governor James Ongwae.
